COPY003: Revisiting the Bonaventure Hotel

Jaspar Joseph-Lester's book is a photo-essay that describes the life of a building through a range of film stills, photographic images and written citations. Here we wander between references to Fredric Jameson, John Portman and Arnold Schwarzenegger and view the world through different perspectives: vertical, horizontal and rotating. This is a story about the image.

COPY002: Paris

Michael Schwab is curious about trees in Paris. The most unnatural thing about a tree in a city is the place where it is planted. In a city there is a space, and a desire for trees in that space, before a decision is made to plant a tree. A tree in a city does not grow; it is planted.

COPY001: Wednesday Afternoon

Vit Hopley writes slowly and carefully and has produced these prose pieces that sit proudly, awkwardly, quite outside conventional literary fiction. Vit writes about many things but above all she writes movingly about dying, and watching dying. And standing still.
